About This Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail runs from the south to the north. The trail begins at a 2.2 mile solid lava flow and ends at a 6300 foot elevation. It took 0.4 miles to get to the foot of Mt Washington. The trails go from the foot of Mt Washington to the Western slope. The trails enter a forested area that provides shade in the hot summer months. The trail heads toward the East side of Big Lake. The last five miles are mostly flat as the trail heads North toward US 20. A good portion of the trail goes through lava fields that are strenuous to negotiate.
