Delete Your Data

Last updated: 2026-08-03

You own your Outdoors account and everything in it. This page explains how to disconnect a sign-in provider, delete your account, or ask us to remove your personal data — and exactly what happens after you do.

Disconnect Google or Facebook

If you signed in with Google or Facebook, we store the provider's account identifier so we can recognize you on your next visit, along with the name, email address, and profile photo that provider shared with us.

To disconnect a provider without deleting your Outdoors account, email us at hello@theoutdoorsapp.com from the address on your account. We remove the stored provider identifier, and that provider can no longer be used to sign in. Your trails, maps, and saved places are untouched. Set a password first, from your account settings, so you don't lock yourself out.

You can also revoke Outdoors' access from the provider's own settings — Google account permissions or Facebook apps and websites. That stops future sign-ins immediately, but it does not by itself delete the data already on your Outdoors account — use the steps below for that.

Delete your account and data

In the Outdoors mobile app, open your profile and choose Delete Account. On the web, email hello@theoutdoorsapp.com from the address on your account with the subject Delete my account.

Deleting your account removes:

  • Your profile — name, email address, and profile photo
  • Any Google or Facebook account identifier linked to you
  • Your saved places, trip plans, and maps you created
  • Your reviews, photos, and comments
  • Your sign-in sessions and API tokens

Deletion runs on a 30-day grace period. We sign you out immediately and schedule the purge 30 days out, so a change of heart — or someone deleting your account without your say-so — is recoverable. Sign back in during those 30 days to cancel it. After the window closes the purge is permanent and we cannot restore the account.

Backups and server logs may persist for a limited period after the purge, and we may retain the minimum records we are legally required to keep, along with anonymized usage counts that cannot be traced back to you. See Data Retention for the full picture.

Request a copy first

If you want your data before it goes, request an export from your profile in the mobile app, or email hello@theoutdoorsapp.com, and we'll send you a machine-readable copy.
