About This Trail
It's a nice moderate trail on the East side of Zion in the winter when there is snow and ice. The Many Pools shows the beginner hiker how the wind and water create slot canyons. The hike is referred to as the "East root canal" because of the shape on the map. There are portable toilets in the parking area. Go north until you see a trail that goes to the wash bottom. Go as far as you please. The routes around the dryfalls are usually to the left. The canyon is generally open and sunny, but there is not a real slot canyon until over a mile up. The upper portion of the Deertrap Mountain Trail is not for beginners or families.
