Zion requires a Wilderness permit for every trip into the Left Fork of North Creek (the Subway), hikers included. Permits are reserved through the park's seasonal lottery on Recreation.gov, with a daily lottery for short-notice trips. The Left Fork is day use only, groups are size-limited, and the bottom-up route needs route finding.
