Whiting Road to Billy Goat Loop Trail

The park may close during the winter due to rain. The route to Red Rock Canyon is more difficult than the Borrego Trail. The Billy Goat Trail is difficult to navigate in places where the knifeblade sandstone ridges have eroded. The Billy Goat Trail is not open to bikers. The ridge leading into the forest has loose rock. Be on the lookout for mountain lions in the elfin forest. It is best avoided during the summer months when temperatures can reach the low hundreds. There is little shade along this route. In all seasons, wear a hat.
