About This Trail
The rainbow that appear in the mist from the water flow on sunny afternoons is named after the highest waterfall in the eastern Sierras. The trail goes from the end of Reds Meadow Road to a viewing area across from the 101 foot waterfall. The National Monument protects the beautiful mountain scenery and protects the columnar basalt formation. There is a parking area next to the shuttle stop. Most of the trail goes through the Inyo National Forest, despite the falls being on National Park Service land.
