About This Trail
It's not required for hikers to get permits to go further than Lone Pine Lake. The day hikers need a permit from the Mount Whitney Ranger Station. A wilderness permit is required for overnight hikers. Hikers going to the top of Mount Whitney need to reserve a spot far in advance due to a strict quota system. The views of Mount Whitney are wonderful.
