About This Trail
Cottonwood Lakes loop begins at Horseshoe Meadow and goes into the Golden Trout Wilderness. It begins on a sandy trail leading to the Golden trout Wilderness. The water in the creek is reliable after a mile. Go over the log bridge and then follow the flat trail skirting a meadow that holds Cottonwood Creek. You will want to avoid a turn off when the trail begins to gain elevation. Go up the trail across a log bridge and rock hop one of the creek to a junction. You can finish the loop section as you please. There are trails that lead to South Fork Lake and New Army Pass.
