About This Trail

Bull Frog Lakes is the most named lake in the Golden Trout Wilderness. It is a 17 mile round trip and begins in the Mineral King area. Bull Frog Lakes are located just below Florence Peak. The lower of the two lakes has an elevation of over 10,800 feet. The upper lake is over 11,000 feet. The Mountain Yellow Legged Frogs are located here, so please be careful when you visit. The California Endangered Species Act considers the frog to be an extinct species in the state. If you wanted to fish, don't bother. There are no fish in the lakes. Prepare for a beautiful hike through Mineral King. The Golden Trout Wilderness has a steep 0.8 mile climb to the lake. The views are worth the hike.
