Webb Canyon, New Almaden, Cinnabar, Mine Hill, Randol and Prospect #3 Loop

The trail head head starts on Web Canyon Dr in Almaden. There is no dedicated parking, but there are plenty of spaces available along the sidewalks of the neighboring streets. The short, lightly trafficked Webb Canyon Trail at the bottom starts with a paved access road (closed to cars) then branches into the woods as a narrow trail along a beautiful hillside, especially in the fall with a blanket of new grass. The trail then continues (on both side) along a portion of New Almaden Trail, which is a narrow, shaded, canyon carving trail that zigzags in and out of the canyons at the feet of the Almaden hills with occasional short changes of elevation. The top of the trail is a section of Randol and Mine Hill Trails, which are much wider and more trafficked (including by bikes) and with generally less shade. The trail can easily be extended by taking a longer section of New Almaden Trail at the bottom or by exploring the vast network of trails around the old mine at the eastern end of the Randol and Mine Hill Trails.
