Pinyon to Sawmill Loop

Favorite secluded horse trail for easy escape from heat, nice for young horses This trail was built by volunteer horse owners/riders/groups from Las Vegas about a decade ago. Same with the rest of most of the trails that begin from Blue Tree Campground (primitive and wilderness area). Although bicycles, hikers and dogs are allowed on these trails at the present time, it is rare to see anyone that isn't on horseback. Be very careful to stay on the path and not bush whack -- a local black powder club holds their monthly shoots at Blue Tree. If you leave the piece of cake trail and follow the wash, you will come to an impasse as the canyon narrows -- backtrack and follow the path up the steep slope (can be loose soil & very rough) -- leave plenty of room between horses here. Bicycles should resist the temptation to cut around the trail -- this is a TOUGH trail for bicycles. If you find yourself following the wash bed, you're off the trail. The only place this trail follows the wash is at the base of the lower trailhead. Lots of trees & game.
