About This Trail
Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest and largest state park in Nevada. The Fire Wave is an amazing sandstone formation that resembles an ocean wave with swirling patterns of red, white, and pink sandstone. This is one of the best hikes in the park. The trail is sandy at the beginning. The way to the Fire Wave is through the Rock cairns. Hikers are recommended to do this hike in the cooler months. The temperature is well over 100 degrees during the summer. The Fire Wave is best photographed in the afternoon and evening.
