About This Trail

Imported description
This is such a marvelously scenic trail, you can go any distance and return. We suggest two interesting return points: one from Peekaboo Saddle which is really just the high point before dropping down into Lost Canyon, and the second from the first peekaboo window. Hikers who go on to the Peekaboo camp are usually spending a night. Trail Description: The signage on the trail is clear and easy to follow although there are sections where attention is required to keep on track with the cairns across slickrock. From the trailhead most of the way to the saddle, the trail is flat or undulates over slickrock mounds. The very last bit to the saddle requires scrambling up steep ledges of slickrock. The 360 degree views from the saddle include the La Sal Mountains, south Six-shooter Peak and the Lost Canyon drainage. Not to be missed! Drop into Lost Canyon drainage after the saddle via a short ladder. Pass the signed junction to Lost Canyon and soon after, LC1 camp. Now the more serious climbing begins as the trail ascends steep slickrock. Be sure to look back behind you for wonderful views of the La Sal Mountains. This is our favorite part of the trail! Negotiate along ledges, in and around deep canyons until reaching the first peekaboo window. Ascend and descend again to get to the second window. From there, it is downhill 336 feet to Peekaboo Camp.
