Pa'rus Trail

Vistas, broad meadows, scenic footbridges, wildflower, and a river for wading. Bike riders have known about the Pa'rus for years and many walkers staying in the Watchman Campground make use of the trail. You'll find a few spots shaded by cottonwoods, ash, and maples where you can slip into the Virgin River to soak the feet. This trail, unsung in the guides, allows the named peaks to check you out as you jog or just stroll. Signs tell about features along the way such as the diversion dam which allows Zion NP to quench the thirst of the town of Springdale while retaining the wild character of the lower gorge. If you feel restless and in need of a winding down after one or more of the up-canyon hikes in Zion, the Pa'rus Trail may be the antidote you need. It's an easy walk along the Virgin River where you can enjoy a paved path, rusting footbridges, meadows, and spectacular vistas of the gorge's features. The name is Paiute for "bubbling, tumbling water". You will see plenty of that and much more that is lovely to the eye and the ear.
