Holbrook Canyon Trail

Holbrook Canyon trail climbs up Holbrook Creek canyon directly above Bountiful, UT. It is a lovely canyon with lots of shade and the beautiful babbling Holbrook Creek throughout. However, footing is sometimes poor and the farther you go, the poorer and more overgrown the trail gets. Begin at the Sessions Mountain and Holbrook Canyon trailhead parking lot. There are TWO SEPARATE trails beginning here (see note below). To hike the Holbrook Canyon trail, head immediately south from the trail-head, following a steep drop of 100' from the parking lot into the canyon. Once meeting the stream, the trail climbs steadily eastward, closely following the creek and crossing it numerous times. The footing is sometimes poor, and at times of very heavy flow, creek crossing could be difficult (while it is never a challenge in summer). NOTE: Another trail begins here, traditionally called 'Sessions Mountain' by the locals, hence the wording on the trail-head sign, but it is officially known as the "Holbrook North Route". It leaves directly to the north from the parking lot, immediately uphill, and soon proceeds east up Sessions Mountain.
