About This Trail

Imported description
The Historic Orchard Pathway is a walking, running, and biking trail which, when completed, will be approximately 10 miles long and will pass through the communities of South Willard, Willard, Perry, and Brigham City. This Willard City trailhead marks the first completed section of the trail, with a 10-foot wide paved trail surface extending 1.5 miles north to the Perry City limits. Another 1.5 mile section extends south on 200 West in Willard along the west shoulder of the road. The pathway is named for its proximity to the beautiful historic orchards in the area, some of which still exist today. This area is known as "The Fruitway" because of the many peach, cherry, and apple orchards which have existed here since the time of settlement in the late 1800s. This pathway is along the abandoned Utah Idaho Central Railroad corridor. This rail line, once an electric rail service, connected Ogden, Logan, and Preston, Idaho. The rail line was used primarily for freight and passenger services. Abandoned and cleared of tracks in 1947, sections of the corridor are now owned by Willard, Perry, Brigham City, and Box Elder County. Information in this description was copied from the sign at the trailhead.
