About This Trail

Imported description
The First through Seventh Lakes up the canyon north of Mount Sill offers a view of Temple Crag and the Palisade Glacier. The trail begins at First Falls in the shade of Jeffrey Pine and Aspen. The trail from the backpackers parking goes up a slope and over First Falls. The trail goes across the Manzanita covered slopes to the wilderness boundary. There are many opportunities to observe the effects of glaciers as the trail goes past the Big Pine Lakes. The main trail leads to Black Lake, where you can see the glaciers and the Sierra Crest.
