About This Trail
The parking area is shared with the trail. The trail for Capitol Gorge is at the end of the road. The trail begins by taking you through a canyon that is shaded and can get very hot in this area. Petroglyphs from the Fremont tribe can be seen along the way. The Pioneer Resister can be found at around 0.6 miles, and is marked by a list of names and dates etched onto the rock walls. The side trip to the tanks is found about a mile away. The trail becomes steep and rocky, but leads to the 'tanks' or caverns filled with water. The tanks have been dry in recent years.
