About This Trail
Plumas County has more than its fair share of great lakes, but it seems to have only three stoplights. The Lakes Basin is an hour north of Truckee and a world away from the traffic. A ten mile loop trail weaves around some of the prettiest lakes, provides some high ridgeline hiking with excellent vantage points, and links to a detour up the 7,812ft tall Mt. For those looking for more challenges. The best time to experience snow-free routes in the Plumas National Forest is during the summer and early fall. If you need to check winter access, we have a link in the guide. The elevation gain was 2,400ft from 6,300 to 7,500ft.
