About This Trail
The well-maintained trail provides an excellent introduction to the flora indigenous to Big Bear Lake. The interpretive guide at the trailhead has descriptions of the twenty numbered signs. There are differences between Western Juniper and Incense Cedar, and a number of other plants discovered at this altitude are identified. The one and one half mile loop is an appropriate warm-up hike for "flatlanders" adjusting to the mountain altitude prior to treks along the Cougar Crest or Gray's Peak trails located nearby.
