About This Trail

Yellow Rock is a large hill of slickrock that is not the same as standard slickrock. There are no hoodoos, no loose rocks on the surface, and almost no vegetation. It is worth a visit for its great views and interesting colors. It is accessible from the Cottonwood Canyon Road. The initial climb is steep and strenuous, but it is short. It is equally difficult to come down on the loose scree. There is a well defined trail after you leave Cottonwood Creek. This hike can be done in 3 hours or less, but you have to spend the whole day. There are many great rocks to explore once you are at the top.
