Trout Brook Trail

This has to be the shortest trail in Fahnestock Park, and you’ll almost certainly spend more time getting to the trailhead (dirt roads involved!) than you will on the trail itself. That having been said, it is a quite pleasant, easy walk, eventually passing the ruins of an old barn just before the trail ends. Park either on the shoulder of Trout Brook Road, or you can actually drive on the trail for a short distance (0.1 miles) to a small parking area. From there, the Trout Brook Trail (yellow) passes around a gate to cross over Trout Brook on a bridge, as you follow an old road/driveway. At 0.3 miles, you will see the ruins of an old (red) barn off to the right. At 0.4 miles, the trail ends at a T-junction with the Wiccopee Trail (blue), where you do an about-face to return to your starting point. [If you want to make a loop of this, turn right onto the Wiccopee Trail, and turn right again at 0.6 miles to stay on this trail, which, at 1.8 miles, ends at a T-junction with the School Mountain Road Trail (white), where you turn right. At 2.3 miles, this trail ends at East Mountain Road. Follow this road until you reach Trout Brook Road at 2.7 miles. Turn right to return to your starting location.]
