A 2.1-mile round-trip walk up a shaded, year-round creek in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu, following wide fire road and gentle dirt trail to Tropical Terrace. At the turnaround stand the stone-and-brick ruins of the Roberts Ranch House, designed in 1952 by pioneering Black architect Paul Revere Williams and destroyed by wildfire in 1982, beside a small perennial waterfall. One of the few dog-friendly NPS trails in the area; the Rising Sun Trail offers a hillier return loop.
