About This Trail

Nice little colorful walk to prominent rock & bench along Dales Trail This easy hike to Skull Rock & back offers nice panoramic views of the lower wash areas in Red Rock. This is a well worn trail, even though it is a narrow, single track. This is definitely not an area where you'll want to wander off the trail -- the surrounding terrain is full of cacti and other unfriendly vegetation. Be sure and keep dogs on their leash or you'll be pulling out cactus needles for hours & your fur-kids may never forgive you. There is a nice wooden bench at Skull Rock where you can rest under a shady juniper tree and enjoy the solitude and view. A wooden sign will direct you to Skull Rock, in case you get it confused with the many red sandstone boulders along this rocky slope. The small canyon between Skull Rock and Bridge Mtn. is heavily used by wild burros and if lucky, you'll be there for their daily migration and braying session. If riding stock to this trail, park on SR159 (pull out at loop exit) and follow horse trail up Pine Canyon to sign
