Sierra Vista Loop Trail

Sierra Vista Loop Trail uses only about 5 miles of the last south part of the Sierra Vista Trail, which is a very long out and back trail. In this section the Sierra Vista Trail crosses the Franklin Mountains at the Webb Gap that is on the NM side and finishes at the Anthony Gap (O’Hara Rd). You start your journey at the trailhead located at this point. Walk on the Sierra Vista Trail to the north and in about 4 mile at the intersection of the road turn to your left and cross the mountains by the Webb Gap. In the middle of this 4 miles section you will see the North Anthony Nose. Once you cross the mountains, continue on the left side (you will see the trail signs) for about 2 miles and a half until you reach the Pipe Line road. Turn to your left and walk on the Pipe Line road heading south. The road continues to your left when you reach the Power Lines at about 8 miles and a half, then you walk for about 2 more miles and you will get to the point where you started. The trail is well maintained and easy to walk or bike, and all the way you will see a lot of flowers, green desert plants and maybe small areas with water due to the rainy season. If you do this trail in the summer time, start very early in the morning, bring a lot of water and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and the desert vegetation in both sides of the NM and Texas.
