About This Trail

The Shinny Trail is a great hike to experience the diversity of the park. You will start on old logging roads and then explore a dry mountain ridge before returning to a riparian area. It's pronounced Shiny. Pick up a map at the ranger station. The trail goes away from the parking area. You will go to the right up the old roadbed when you come to Shinny Creek Picnic Area. The upper end of Shinny Trail leads to the Ascend HQ trail. If you want a challenge, turn right onto Shinny Trail. The easiest way to get to the top of the ridge is on the HQ trail. Go for approximately 1 mile and then turn right on Shinny Trail. You can go down Shinny Trail until you reach the Shinny Creek campsites. The parking area is located on the left side of the HQ trail.
