Rooster Rock Trail

The hike to Rooster Rock provides a view of the entire South Santiam Canyon. The one to the west is more moderate than the one to the east. The trail climbs slowly and then goes steeply to Rooster Rock. The rock climbers like the huge pillar of andesite called Rooster Rock. The wooden remains of a Forest Service lookout can be found if you are an adventurous climber. The entire South Santiam Canyon can be seen from the top of the trail. You will also get a good view of Rabbit Ears.
