Peninsula, Fox Run, Huckleberry Loop, and Miles Standish Trails Loop

This is a popular loop in Ponderosa State Park that can be biked or hiked. It starts at the Activity Center parking lot near the Peninsula Campground. You loop around the campground and then continue north along the western side of the peninsula. The Peninsula Trail is double-track, so people may walk or bike two abreast until you meet someone going the opposite direction. The Peninsula Trail is relatively flat and easy, whereas the trails on the eastern side of the loop are slightly more difficult and narrower. Cross Scenic Drive at the Lily Marsh Trailhead and continue north on Fox Run Trail. At Fox Run Trailhead go south on the trail (across the parking lot) to Huckleberry Loop Trail heading southwest to Miles Standish Trail and follow the trail through the sagebrush meadow back to the Activity Center. During this time the park is open to snowshoers and cross-country skiers. No dogs are allowed in the park during winter access season, except on Rover’s Round About (a dog loop for skijoring or snowshoe walking). This loop can be accessed by cross-country skiers in the winter access season, but parts are at a more difficult level. Some winter access trails have different names than those listed here.
