About This Trail
A trail to the Pioneer Cabin is one of the area's most popular hikes. The valley has one of the best vistas with it being up a forested ridge across a flower- decorated plateau. The cabin, located at the edge of a steep drop into the North fork of the basin, is a replica of a European Alpine hut. The Sun Valley Company built this structure in the 1930s to allow skiers in the Pioneer Mountains more access to the ski school. The peaks were named after people who were killed in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II.
