About This Trail
The mining area between the two towns is not well-known. Route loops back over Dakota Hill with a side trip to the preserved shaft house. Follow directions carefully because of the many roads that are not marked. The area is great for unlicensed vehicles. It's a good idea to drive in far enough to find a wide spot to avoid blocking the road. There is more parking at the south end of the trail. If the gate is locked, you should turn around. It is open all year. For current conditions, call the Roosevelt National Forest.
