The hike starts on Thumb Butte Road (C65) 3.6 miles past the Thumb Butte recreation area. You can take a 2-mile loop after hiking 1.0 miles up the trail, one of which feels downhill in both directions. The hike is all forested and has views of Granite Mountain and the City of Prescott.
