About This Trail

Imported description
This gem is close in proximity to First Dam and Utah State University. With sweeping views of the Wellsville Mountains, Utah State, First Dam, and the Logan Temple, it is a must do, especially early in the morning, or near sunset. Park at First Dam, go through the tunnel that goes under Highway 89, and make your way up the switchbacks to the top of the hill. This short jaunt is the only moderate hiking on the whole trail. Once you make the top of the hill, you will see the Logan Country Club on your left, the Bonneville Shoreline Trail straight ahead, and the Highline Trail up canyon marked by a road gate. Head up canyon. Parts of the trail have been protected by railing, but most of the trail does not have protection. Exercise caution due to the steep drop offs. The trail eventually meets up with Highway 89 (marked by another road gate). Return the way you came, or you can head approximately 200 yards up canyon to a parking area that the River Trail runs through, and make your way down canyon on that trail. If you choose to return via the River Trail, be sure to take the bridge junction approximately 150 yards near the River Trail Trailhead and run under highway 89, and take this trail past the power plant, and through the Ray Hugie Hydro Park.
