About This Trail
See historic mine structures. The scenery is gorgeous, the wildflowers are amazing and the buildings are standing. The trail goes to historic mines including the Virginius Mine. You may not be able to drive all the way to them because they are on private land. Stay out of buildings. The trail is popular for Jeep tours. The best time to go is in the summer. It is located in the Uncompahgre National Forest. For current conditions, call Ouray Ranger District. The main trail is suitable for high-clearance, aggressive stock SUVs. It was said that experienced drivers only.
