About This Trail

Imported description
Note: The bridge to Fiery Gizzard Trail is currently out. For updated info, please see https://tnstateparks.com/parks/south-cumberland You should plan on doing the trail counter-clockwise. This will put you through the Fiery Gizzard rock and boulder fields while you are fresh. You will still have a very steep climb out to the Dog Hole trail, but then it is only a short distance out to Raven point. The return trip on the Dog Hole trail is very moderate with a fairly easy descent back down to the Fiery Gizzard trail. From there you have a bit of rock field back to the Grundy Day loop, but then the trail is moderate back to the parking area at the trailhead. This is a very difficult trail - be prepared and bring plenty of water. Although dogs are allowed to use this trail, users have reported that the rock scrambling can be quite difficult for them. This trail located in Grundy Forest State Natural Area at South Cumberland State Park offers spectacular views of rock formations, cascading streams, waterfalls, rocky gorges, panoramic overlooks and lush woodland.
