About This Trail
Hikers and photographers need permits to visit the formations in Coyote Buttes. A permit to go to CBSouth is a ticket to adventure, with an exciting drive on remote roads of an off road wilderness. The Bureau of Land Management issues permits for twenty people per day. The Wave is a famous highlight but Coyote Buttes South is more of an adventure. Access is by four-wheel drive roads. There are no hiking trails or routes when you get there. The teepee is the most common formation in the area. The formations are quite unusual in their color, with a strong yellow color and typical variations of red or brown. You must bring your own water and dispose of your trash in a certain way.
