About This Trail

This 13,500-acre area of volcanic cinder cones, craters and pine forest is a small sample of the unique area of volcanoes and volcanic ash Route described here. It is open to off-highway vehicle users. Only licensed vehicles are allowed on the Forest Service roads. Helmets and spark arresters are required. There are posted areas for dispersed camping along F.S. 776 No glass containers Do not create new trails, they go everywhere. Stay off the slopes that have the most impact. Obey all signs and stay within the area boundary. It is located in the Coconino National Forest. For current conditions, call the Peaks Ranger District. It is easy to roll hills to steep climbs. It is soft like sand and can quickly heat up engines.
