About This Trail

Imported description
This trail is very easy and suitable for most passenger cars from the Metberry Gulch trailhead all the way to the south end. However, the trail north and east of the Metberry Gulch trailhead is much rougher and suitable only for vehicles with higher clearance. 4-wheel drive may be necessary in spots, especially if the trail is wet or snowy. If you start on the northeast end, there are a couple of parking areas where you can air down your tires and disconnect your sway bar if you wish. Then the fun starts fairly soon, with many cracks in the road. These cracks cause some whoopdeedoos and sections where you have to watch your tire placement. The trail continues to get rougher, though there are some ways through many of the cracks that make things easier. This is also a good way to get to Turkey Rock, a very popular rock climbing area. There is ample parking near Turkey Rock, with about 15 minutes left to walk to get to the rock itself. There is also quite a bit of camping available here, too. You will see Cedar Mountain on the left of the trail as you work your way around it. Once you start heading south, the trail is even rougher. Erosion is causing big cracks in the road in very many places, making it a bit more difficult. After you pass the Metberry Gulch trailhead, the Cedar Mountain Road trail becomes much easier. It is very smooth all the way out to the south end.
