Carter Meadows Summit to Scott Mountain Summit via the PCT

The Pacific Crest Trail hugs the spine of Scott Mountain, giving access to a string of lakes. This is a great route for hikers who want to go to the drainages below the divide. There is plenty of parking at both of the trailheads. There are no water or other facilities at Carter Meadows Summit. The Hidden Horse Campground is a forest service site with toilets and water. The forest service campground is located next to the Scott Mountain Trailhead. It's easy to go through-hike if you can arrange a car shuttle or an excellent out-and-back trip. It is required for overnight visitors to have a wilderness permit. It is required for campfires and camp stoves. The Trinity Alps are always open, but most access roads are closed during winter.
