About This Trail
When a prospector named Conger discovered gold in one of the streams, the Caribou District was an old mining area above Nederland. You will find many old mines as you prowl on the ridge lines and slopes. You can see the old Northwester & PacificRR trestle on the side slope, it's in disrepair. You can see James Peak to the south from Bald Mountain. The hikes are named, 1 of which is ranked, and 1 of which is un-named.
