About This Trail
It took eight hours to go up and down the north shore of Lake Berryessa. The trail is mostly on the peak side of the county, with a brief dip into Yolo County. The hike through the chaparral to the summit has views of the Mayacamas, St.Helena, and the Mendocino National Forest's Goat Mountain. Views of the Sierra Nevada and Shasta are possible when you are clear. It's not suitable for dogs, horses, bikes. Expect some mud. The spring wildflowers are mediocre. When a front comes through, watch the weather. It is important to stay on the trail for the whole hike in order to not get lost. The trail crosses a barbed-wire fence after a brief but steep ascent.
