10 mile hike with climbs totaling 1800 feet through McDonald Forest This hike can be accessed from several locations and can be done in both directions. Clockwise gives you longer downhill walks, and counter-clockwise provides for sustained uphill efforts. This is my favorite way. From the Lewisburg Saddle parking lot take the 600 (Patterson) road south to the junction of 620. The 620 ends at the Alpha Trail trailhead. Take the Alpha Trail to the 810, at the junction with 800, go left, then right onto the 820 road which comes out onto Sulfpher Springs Trail. As you cross the bridge, go left and follow to the Orange gate which begins the 700 road. Now starts a long climb up the 700 road to the junction with 680. Go left on 680 and follow it all the way down to the junction with 600 or Patterson Road. Go left and head back up to almost the top of Dimple Hill saying on the 600 road all the way back down to the Lewisberg Saddle. All along this hike you'll have great views, see wonderful forests, and have most of it to yourself
