About This Trail
The Weber Pathways Rail Trail was opened in 2002 on a rail-banked Union Pacific Railroad corridor. The Little Mountain Railroad Branch was built in 1971 to carry salt and other minerals from the Great Salt Lake to the main line. The original railroad mile markers were left in place by Weber Pathways. The rail-trail passes through wetlands and over creek, with dramatic views of the Wasatch Range in the distance. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife. The western 3 miles of trail are closed from March to September to protect the birds' habitat. The trail will be extended into Box Elder County. This segment will end west of US 89.
