Tithing Mountain

Moderately easy hike up to "P" Mountain and Tithing Mountain. Great views of Payson, Utah Valley and Payson Canyon. The white 'P' on the mountain is on BLM property. The trail up the side of the 'P' is VERY steep and slippery with loose rocks. If you just want to reach the top ridge trail it's best to turn south (right) just after the BLM sign and access gate and follow the dirt/gravel trail route to the south and west of 'P' mountain which takes a more gradual route up to the ridge trail that goes to Tithing Mountain. Then circle back along the ridge if you want to see the 'P'. As you follow the ridge trail out to Tithing Mountain it does cross a few sections of private land but the land is not marked or fenced and the trail is well used with no apparent limitations from property owners. There are occasional mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and ATV's on the trail. Usually lots of deer and birds. Some short steep sections with loose rocks/gravel, but mostly a level to moderately sloped out-and-back trail that is close to Payson and has easy access. Park on the street on 600 East (Canyon Rd / Nebo Loop Rd) next to the curb between 1169 S. and 1165 S., but don't park in their driveways! There's a dirt access lane between these two homes that you can walk up to the BLM property and access gate.
