A permit is required for day and overnight use in the Enchantment Permit Area. Day users can get a free, self-issue wilderness permit at one of the three trailheads that enter the Enchantments. Overnight permits are required from May 15 through October 31 and must be obtained in advance through Recreation.gov. Dogs are prohibited in the permit area. Check the Forest Service page for current permit details.
