About This Trail
Sarah Cochran, widow of coke and coal pioneer Philip Cochran, built a Tudor mansion north of Dawson in 1913 and used the Mansion Road to travel between the two. The road has become a trail because of the deteriorated condition. The trail surface is broken. It's not bad for someone on foot, but only mountain bikes can handle the rough surface. The round trip is 2.5 miles and can be done in an hour. There is a nice view of the Youghiogheny River valley from the overlook. Tours of the hall are only available to groups of 25 or more.
