About This Trail

The Waterfront is a collection of retail, corporate offices, restaurants and luxury homes. The southern shore of the Monongahela River is where the Waterfront Trail runs. You can see gas lights after dark, and go by many restaurant patios. There is a lot of pedestrians along this section of the trail. You can extend the trail to 2.5 miles by using concrete sidewalks at either end. It would be a short distance to the South Side section of the Three Rivers Heritage trail if it weren't for Sandcastle Water Park's resistance to having a bike trail by their property. Work is being done to connect various segments southeast to the Great Allegheny Passage.
