About This Trail
The Santa Ysabel Preserve-West is 40 miles northeast of San Diego. The trail is steep. There are picnic tables on the trail in the hills. If the entire preserve is open hiking can be extended to over 8 miles. The beauty of the place makes up for the lack of singletrack options, and you will most likely not mind at all. The rolling open grassland and oak groves remind me of Northern California. If you do all of the loops and back sections, you can ride a bike or horseback for 20 miles.
