About This Trail
The smallest Wilderness area in Missouri is marked by an ancient circle of granite rocks. The 4,238-acre Rockpile Mountain Wilderness is mostly a broken ridge with limestone bluffs and caves. The trail from the start is often steep and has a range of elevation from 1,300 feet to 520 feet. The rest of the area is accessed by old roads. The area is within the mountains. The wilderness area is allowed for backpack camping.
