About This Trail

Imported description
The trail starts at Winsor Loop 254. Immediately, you're met with a fork. Both are the Winsor Loop. You take a few switchbacks until you reach the main junction of Winsor Loop and the trail to Raven's Ridge. There are 2 benches along the switchbacks to rest. At the junction, you'll take a right and follow a fenceline for quite a while. It's all at an incline. Just after the trail splits from the fenceline, you'll see Rest 1. You won't miss it, it's absolutely stunning. After this point, the trail to Peak 1 is much more intense than what you've done so far. Rest 1 to Peak 1: This part is probably the most difficult on the trail incline-wise, so take your time. The trail after Rest 1 splits into smaller paths, but they all weave in and out of each other. I don't think there are any wrong turns. After a strenuous burst, you'll come across a pile of large rocks with another great lookout and a good short resting spot. After pushing more, you'll be rewarded with another view and finally Peak 1. There isn't much to look at at Peak 1, but the terrain finally levels off and you even descend some. Peak 1 to Peak 2: After a slight descent, you're back at it again with the incline, but this one isn't as bad. There's a pretty meadow behind a fenceline, but there's not much other than that to Peak 2. Peak 2 to Deception Peak (End of Trail): You'll descend quite a bit and then incline all the way to the top. You lose tree cover in the last push and the trail is only discernible by the path worn by hikers. It's not very distinct and would be difficult to follow if there's snow. Regardless, you can see the peak easily. It's recommendable using the AllTrails GPS to make sure you're staying on the trail, especially when coming off the peak. There are a couple other trails that are easy to bite off on and they will lead you in the wrong direction to get back to the parking lot. After reaching the top, you can continue on the other trail to Lake Peak or toward the phone towers for a longer hike.
