About This Trail

Some begin the loop by walking across the Key Bridge from the parking lot. The first thing that a lot of people do is follow the ramp up and across the Roosevelt Bridge to Thompson's Boat House. Mile 0 is the location of the C&O Canal. Continue across the Rock Creek bridge to the C&O Canal trail. The trail leads to the Chain Bridge. The quote states that you should cross the Chain bridge and nest small bridge. The heritage trail is on the right. You will turn and go under the bridge. The blue blazes should be followed carefully. The trail may be under water during times of flooding. It's not difficult to stay up the bank and walk along until you get to meet you. Follow the road back to the Theodore Roosevelt parking lot.
